Why Final Shipped Quantities May Slightly Differ from Order Quantities

In custom garment manufacturing, slight variations between the original purchase order quantity and the final delivered quantity are a standard industry reality. We prioritize delivering top-tier quality over shipping defective items just to hit an exact unit count.
Here is a clear breakdown of why order quantities and final shipped counts may vary slightly:
1. Layered Fabric Cutting & Fixed Size Ratios Bulk garment cutting is not done one piece at a time. To ensure consistent shape, sizing, and grain alignment across an entire order, fabrics are laid out in multi-layer stacks (fabric spreads).
- Our CAD marker system arranges paper patterns into an optimal size ratio (e.g., 1:2:2:1 for S:M:L:XL) to maximize fabric efficiency.
- When the cutting machine cuts through the stack, every layer yields the exact same ratio. Because fabric rolls come in specific yardages, the total cut yield naturally aligns with the marker ratio rather than round numbers.
2. Strict Quality Control & Defect Removal Throughout the cutting, stitching, printing, embroidery, and washing processes, pieces are inspected at multiple checkpoints.
- If a piece fails our quality standards (e.g., printing misalignment, fabric flaws, or sewing defects), it is pulled immediately.
- We do not ship sub-par or damaged garments to fill a quota. Only items that pass 100% final inspection make it to packaging.
3. Standard Industry Tolerance (+/- 3% to 5%) Because over-cutting or natural production shrinkage occurs, custom manufacturing operates under an industry-standard production tolerance (typically +/- 3% to 5%).
- Over-delivery: If extra flawless units are completed, they may be included in your final invoice and shipment.
- Under-delivery: If defect culling results in slightly fewer units, your final balance is adjusted accordingly so you only pay for Grade-A goods.
